Ford Ranger or Chevy?

Alrighty I been truck searching but stuck trying to choice between two. I want to get another Ford Ranger 5 speed 6 cyl but on the other hand I want to get a 1990 or 1991 Chevy 1500 5 speed. I'm kinda leaning toured the Chevy but I don't know how good gas mileage is, I have been told it gets 23/25 on highway but question is, that true? So which would be better, have more power even though their 6 cyl and be decent on gas?
