Why are your views on profanity why is it considered bad?

There is a time and place for everything. I personally have no problem cursing but I know sometimes I shouldn't such as in front of the people in my graduate school program because I know many of them think people who curse a lot are idiots because they can't think of a better word to convey what they want to say (obviously I'm not dumb if I'm in grad school though). I don't curse at my job since it's not professional and I try not to curse in public because someone may be offended and a lot of people think a girl cursing is tacky and I don't want any problems. When I'm at home with my boyfriend though it's a different story. I don't think profanity is bad, it's just words but I like to be courteous to the people around me.
